Infrastructure Upgrades Coming to Columbia

home

The City of Columbia is now using the Cured-In-Place-Pipe method to repair the city’s aging pipes. By using this method, the city is saving quite a bit of money and the process is much quicker and less invasive than dig and replace.

The process their using involves steam and a resin that will then harden the material into PVC. The current infrastructure is rusted corrugated metal, which was installed in the 1960s.

CIPP provides the pipes with new life and the lifespan is approximately 50 years, lasting much longer than metal and clay pipes.

The estimated cost to repair the 830 feet of pipeline is $230,000. There is also 90,000 feet of sewer lines that need repaired throughout the city. The estimated cost to repair the sewer mains is in the area of $3.2 million.

Many people don’t even consider the aging infrastructure and what it takes to maintain it. If you are a homeowner, business owner or municipality looking for information on protecting, lining and repairing pipes, or for the nearest installer, contact Perma-Liner™ today.
